Lightning Knocked Out of League Cup

The FP Lightning started Game 1 of the MCYSA League Cup against the Madison Soccer Club Bulls with an impressive goal by forward, Tommy Byrne.

Defensive players Gavino Marquez, Trevor Anderson, Lucas Krznowski and Connor Perillo, along with a stellar performance from goalie Drew Heinold, held Lightning’s 1-0 lead into halftime.

Coming into the second half, Lightning continued to battle. Midfielders Christian Farrell, Aidan Buneta, Andrew Raphael and Christopher Adesso fought hard against their determined opponent. Despite the efforts of forward Matt DeFrancesco, the Madison Bulls pulled ahead 2-1.

With time running out, the boys made a few attempts to score, but fell just short. The game ended in a 2-1 win for Madison, knocking Florham Park out of the tournament.

Coach George Heinold was proud of the Lightning, who never lost steam and gave everything they had, losing by only one goal to the MCYSA Flight 1 First Place team. FP Lightning looks forward to future opportunities for tournament play.
