A STORM hits the Minutemen

The Florham Park Storm took the field against the Sussex/Warren Minutemen for a makeup game Friday night.

Kfir Katzav and Connor Schmit started as forwards and were eager to score goals, but got caught off sides when the Minutemen defense was playing a very high position. Storm’s midfielders, James Raphael and Alexander Howden quickly caught on and was able to feed the ball to Connor, past the defensive line, resulting in Schmit putting the ball in the net. The game tone was set with Storm being the leaders.

As Storm forwards were trying hard to stay on sides, Liam Bill, Paul Rinaldi, Michael Rinaldi, Luka Buneta and Christian Bucciarelli had a strong hold on protecting their goal. Goalie, Nicholas DeGeronimo held the Minutemen down by saving two shots, one direct kick high in the box and one cross to the header.

Storm stood strong and were able to find the back of the net for a total of 5 goals. In addition to the goal by Connor Schmit, Kfir Katzav scored twice, Alexander Howden put one in net and Timothy Bucciarelli made his team proud by scoring his first goal.

Ryan Ciasullo had a few great shots on goal, but they just couldn’t make it past the Minutemen goalie.

Alexander Howden turned on the heat in the second half and carried the ball up the field for several shots on goal.

Coach Adam Schmit appointed team captain to James Raphael, Timothy Bucciarelli, and Kfir Katzav for their help, respect to the refs and determination.

Storm looks forward to continuing a winning streak against Bridgewater on Sunday.
