The SWEEPERS bring home a VICTORY against rival Rockaway

It was a SWEET Victory for the Sweepers as the beat their long time rival in Rockaway.

After playing and either tying or losing to Rockaway 5 other times in the last year,  the Sweepers DOMINATED possession, with a strong 3-1 victory!!

The first goal came within the 15th minute, when Valentino Della Grazia won possession near midfield, dribble through open space, and a defender, and took a shot from the corner of the right side of the 18.  The ball hooked over the goalie into the left side of the net!!!  The 2nd goal came in the 23rd minute, with James Mochnal winning possession in the midfield near the top of the 18.  He took a touch to his right, and shot the ball through the goalies hands!  The last goal came deep in the 2nd half.  The play started from our defensive side of the field, to center, then to left, and ended in Jason Grzymala’s foot in front of the net, and a big defender.  He turned and struck the ball to the back of the net!

It was a total team effort, with the entire team contributing!  It started from the back with our goalies in Kyle Hahn, Dylan Welby, and Kenny Scaglione, each helped with holding a very strong offensive club to only 1 goal.  The Defense was STRONG shutting it down, winning 50/50 balls, anticipating, and containing a quick offensive unit.  It was led by Noah Burmeister at Center Fullback, who NEVER came out of the game!  He was quick to anticipate, and distribute to the out side midfielders or fellow defensemen.  He dominated play in the back!

Also contributing were Aidan Walsh, and Dyaln Welby, playing aggressive, tough defense! Midfielders, James Mochnal, Valentino DellaGrazia, and Daniel Piedade, also controlled possession well. They were led by the Center Offensive midfielder, Johnny Karpinski.  His unselfish play on the pitch set up a ton of opportunities for the Sweepers to strike on goal. Overall a wonderful game, where the kids showed their true knowledge of how to play the sport right!
