wolFPack Fight For Draw at The Den
Florham Park, NJ – The second half of the fall season saw Florham Park 9Us face up against Summit Real Madrid at Elm Street Small Sided on Sunday.
Summit gave the wolFPack their first loss in their first game of this season so the wolfers were hungry for the return leg.
Coming into the match with 1 loss, Summit was looking for 3 points to close the gap on table leaders Long Valley, but walked out of The Den with single point.
First half was scoreless as the physical side of the game got the spotlight. Mark Perillo stood on his head stopping anything that would come in his way. Keeping the sheet clean for the first 25 minutes required a monumental effort from co-skipper Ryan Medich along with the hard working Dylan Sugg. The 2 had their hands full slowing down the offensive skills summit brought to the game.
Summit did open the score first in the second half making the days task more difficult for the wolFPack.
However, it was a set piece off a corner kick that drew the game level when co-skipper Peter Garing sent the ball over the goalies reach. Danny Ewing was there to collect and volley the ball off his legs at the far post. Ewing’s goals elevated the wolFPack into a high pressing attack for the remainder of the match.
At the end of 50 minutes, both teams played real well as each earned a well deserved point.
Net minding duty was split between Perillo and constant Matthew Toto who had outstanding games. Perillo also put in a enormous effort at left back in the later part of the match.
Johnny Keogh, Danial Rafael, Nicholas Cicarelli and Dylan Brown were outstanding in their play through out the day. The tight contest saw Rafael and Brown being asked to play in different positions while Cicarelli remained solid in his efforts. Rafael kept busy as a forward going at the Summit defense while Keogh slipped in and out of players keeping the them back on their heals.
“If we play like we do today and not win, its OK. We build more unity. We add to our character and identity.” Coach Garing stated in a post match interview. “We are playing like a bunch of wolves out there”
WolFPack will be looking for 3 when they travel to Pequannock next week at 2:30 PM
