Firestorm Boys Revenge Loss

Hackettstown NJ – Florham Park Firestorm sought revenge on Sunday after being handed their worse loss of the season 6-3 in a Home and Home series this weekend.

It started when The Hotspurs came down to Elm Street Small Sided field and took an early lead to which Firestorm never recovered from. Losing 4-1 after the first 25, the home team rallied up a few goals but it was too little too late as they lost in the end.  Goals were scored by Chase Sugg, Luke Ferrara and a penalty was finished off by Colin Heinold.

Sunday the Firestorm traveled up to Hackettstown to revenge their loss with a 7-2 victory.  There was magic in the air as the boys set up to play deep in a wooded cove.  From the whistle to whistle, the boys were in attack mode.

The defense was a brick wall limiting Saturdays goal scorer from Hackettstown to only 1 shot on goal.   The defense was led by Jack Garing, Rocco Santillan and anchored with Matty O’Leary playing in a new role of defensive center mid.  Their shot blocking and shutting down any idea of an attack proved to be essential for the Firestorm victory.

Offensive play led by Luke Ferrara, Colin Heinold, Chase Sugg and Jack Galante was too much for the Hackettstown defense.  Ferrara ended the day on a hatrick, Heinold with a brace with Galante and Sugg tallied 1 goal each.  Teddy Petro also starred for Firestorm in midfield and forward positions.  These guys were buzzing all over the place with a passion second to none.   The was a bit of fire in the Firestorm this afternoon.

Net minders Bryce Cicchino, Leif Youngren and Christopher Malcynski all chipped in to keep Hackettstown to only 2 goals on the day.

Firestorm were coming off a 3 game losing streak to which they dropped valuable points in their quest to win the flight.  But Sundays game was a huge victory in remaining in one of the top positions.
