Lightning Strikes Flight 1

Following a crushing loss in their Flight 1 debut, the Florham Park Lightning took the field this week with a vengeance. They hosted the reigning Flight 2 Champions, Wayne SC Red 07.

Lightning pulled ahead early with goals by newcomer, Atticus Lidsley, Andrew Raphael and an astounding 3 goals scored by Tommy Byrne.

Key defenders Trevor Anderson and Andrew Raphael, along with Connor Perillo and Luke LeSueur found success with the team’s new 4-2-2 formation.

Ace goalie, Drew Heinold, allowed the boys from Wayne only one goal. Sebastian Renzi worked hard as striker and midfielder Gavino Marquez gave it his all in both halves.

The larger field, the top flight position, the absence of forward Christian Farrell due to injury, and the addition of 3 new players, Lindsley, LeSueur, and Peter Dougherty will provide a challenge to the team this season. However, Coach George Heinold believes in this squad. With conditioning and hard work, and the support of trainer, Victor Kanashiro, the Lightning will be a force to reckon with.

Fresh off a 5-1 victory, The Lightning heads to Dover on Sunday, September 24th to show Flight 1 that you can’t keep them down for long!
