wolFPack Win In The Den
FLORHAM PARK – NJ The 9U wolFPack win their first home game at Emmett Small Sided field which has now been dubbed THE DEN for the youngsters.
Coming off a opening season loss versus Summit, the wolFPack came out hungry winning their home opener 3-nil against Pequannock Strikers
Opening up the scoring for the home team was Pete Garing whose Free Kicks are going to be a goalies nightmare this season. Garing was able to reach the upper corner from 5 yards outside the penalty box giving The Pack a 1 nil lead in the first 5 minutes of the game. He later had another free kick which beat the goalie again however athletically cleared out by opposing defender on the goal line.
Game changer Johnny Keogh looked like a surfer coming out of the tube of a tidal wave the way he was weaving in and out of 3 and 4 players who seemed 5 feet taller than he. With his blue collar 201 area code in his gene pool, his tireless work ethic paid off netting the second goal of the game for a 2-nil lead into halftime.
Matthew Toto who minded the net in the first half came out blazing as the top striker in the later half of the contest. Toto was able to bag the ball in the onion bag with minutes remaining giving the good guys a 3-nil victory.
“Defense was very strong today. If we keep teams at 0, we can score goals and win” Coach Garing stated after the game
Clean sheet was maintained by net minders Toto and Mark Perillo alongside stalwart Dylan Sugg who controlled the center of the pitch for the full game.
