Sugg Doubles Goal Count With Hatrick
Florham Park, NJ – Chase Sugg was the star of the day netting 3 goals for the 11U Firestorm adding to his already 3 goals in the campaign. The home match at Emmett field against Denville Arsenal saw the home team cruise to a 4 nil halftime lead.
Sugg who is thriving in a new position as a withdrawn forward had an unassisted goal in the 8th minute of the match.
Game changer Jack Galante pressed the game into the positive side of the pitch from the right wing all afternoon while sending dangerous balls into the mixer. Galante’s hard work paid off as he fed Colin Heinold who netted his 3rd goal of the season with his left foot.
Both Luke Ferrara and Matty O’Leary shared center back responsibility throughout the contest. Given the freedom to move up the pitch both played important roles for Sugg’s next 2 goals at the 22nd and 25th minute.
“There were some technical drills at last practice that seemed to have paid off today”, assistant Coach Santillan mentioned in a post game interview.
The 4 nil lead seemed to put the Firestorm in cruise control for the remainder of the match. Working on their first clean sheet of the season Coach Garing felt comfortable leaving the match to attend another for the little brother club 9U wolFPack. The gaffer left the remaining minutes in the hands of his assistant only to hear later that the clean sheet had been spoiled by 2 goals.
“I was a bit worried going into the weekend. We had a lazy practice mid week. But the boys seemed interested in getting a result today. Pleased with the performance” Coach Garing stated after the game.
Leif Youngren had a outstanding game protecting the onion bag. His brave efforts in the second half were key to the victory today. Reid Baldwin shared net minding responsibility in the first half and is getting better with each game.
Emilio Farina held the ball up nicely as a target forward which helped keep play on the positive side of the pitch.
Midfield and defensive efforts by Teddy Petro were outstanding.
Firestorm are on the road next Sunday as they face Bridgewater dragons.
