Rockers bounce back and top Summit 4-1

Coming off their first loss of the season to undefeated Madison the Rockers bounced back to beat Summit 4-1 and move 3 points closer to Madison.

Summit scored the first goal on a penalty kick and took an early lead. Rockers were able to get 2 goals before half and led 2-1 at half time.

Gracie Kelly opened the scoring on a nicely crafted build up through a midfield connection of Ashley Peterson and Mia Zirpoli. Jess Byrne scored just before half collected a rebound off an Ava Dico cannon.

Ryan O’Leary put the Rockers in control 3-1 on a blast from 40 yards out that has already been named MCYSA goal of the week. Sadie O put the game on ice with fourth Rocker goal off a feed from Celine Ramos.

The stingy Rocker defense led by Sara Coto, Mia Heinold and Isabelle Medich shut down the Summit offense and Gia Dalessio picked up the win in goal.

Rockers host Springfield in Florham Park on Sunday at 730.
