A Fond Farewell to the Florham Park Lightning

On September 13, 2015, the Florham Park Lightning took the field for the first time. Under the direction of Brian Perillo and Mike Farrell, it was soon evident that what they lacked in experience, they made up for in heart.

Over the course of 6 seasons, Lightning added George Heinold as their head coach and the determined group of 7 and 8 year old boys grew into a family.

They worked their way from MCYSA Flight 7 to Flight 1. They dominated their stint in Flight 5, becoming Champions with an undefeated season. They have taken home wins at both the Drew University Tournament and the Mount Olive Halloween Tournament. Lightning has scored a total of 165 goals during their tenure. They have learned the rules, the positions and the strategies of soccer, but most of all, they have learned that hard work, perseverance and supporting each other are the keys to being a successful team.

On June 17, 2018, the boys of Lightning played their final game and when the whistle blew for the last time, it was the end of something beautiful.

Thank you, Florham Park Lightning, for the lessons, the wins, the smiles and the memories.
